Outpatient Total Joint Replacement Surgery

Recent advancements in surgical technique, surgical technology, medicines and anesthesia have allowed some practicing Orthopaedic Surgeons to perform joint replacement surgery on select individuals in a comfortable outpatient setting. What used to be a surgery requiring a 3-4 day hospital stay, can now be performed in an Ambulatory Surgery Center and go home the same day to recover at home. I am proud to be the first to accomplish this feat in the Albany area. My team and I performed the first successful outpatient total knee replacement in our Center in November 2014 and as I write this in March 2015, that patient is doing great and is going to have the other knee replaced in our surgery center next month. Several other patients have also expressed interest and are awaiting surgery.

Advanced medical and surgical care is of tantamount importance to the physicians and staff at Orthopaedic Associates. Through cutting edge technology we are able to minimize incisions, decrease surgical time and significantly decrease post-operative pain, so that a patient can leave after surgery comfortably and recover at home with loved ones and minimal discomfort. Many surgeries that previously required a hospital stay can now be safely and effectively performed at our state of the art ambulatory surgery center. Ask your doctor if you are a candidate for outpatient surgery.
